Nordic House celebrates 50 years in 2018
Nordic House celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, and for that occasion, our library will invite guests on Wednesday nights from 7-9 PM, where interesting anecdotes about the house will be remembered and the archive opened, one decade at a time. Guests and passersby will be able to look at pictures and other interesting things and objects that have been collected over the 49 years.
The sixties and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir
On April 5th, we formally opened the archive and invited our guest of honor Mrs. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, who has been a frequent guest in the house from day one, and as many know, she grew up in the area and witnessed the house being built. Mikkel Harder, our Nordic House director, hosted a talk with Vigdís.
How does it continue?
Every Wednesday evening from 19.00 – 21.00, we will open boxes from the archives connected to a specific period.
In April, the 1960s was the period of focus. We went through some interesting material from the archives, and guests who visited the Nordic House in the 1960s, have seen or even helped it being built shared their stories and memories.
In May, we had a closer look at the 1970s.
In June, it was time for the 1980s.
After a break during the summer, we continued with the 1990s in September.
In October, we’ll be looking at the first decennium of the 21st century, the 2000s.
In November, the 2010s will be the period of focus.
In December, we’ll dream together about the future.
Every Wednesday from 19.00 – 21.00. Open for everybody. You are welcome to bring pictures / videos / booklets / programs / old newspaper cuttings, that have a special meaning for you in relation to the Nordic House.
